Statement

“I work in both acrylic and watercolor. My style and subject matter range from large, complex abstracts evocative of feelings to simple, natural tones in serene landscapes. My paintings reflect my roots in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. I believe art is healing; it should make you feel something; perhaps an emotional transition. I feel that a painting morphs and tells me what it will become; each piece has a sequential process and simply comes alive. It takes me on a journey or recollection, a dream or memory. Often, a painting determines its own completion point, direction or feel. The piece may not be what I envisioned and I’m ok with that if it makes us figure things out. Drawn to nature’s detail and mood, I receive inspiration from personal experiences, the people in my life, God and music. I don’t ask viewers what they see in my paintings, I ask them what they feel. I’m honored to know your thoughts and feelings when you look at one of my pieces."
